Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your product. I respect the opinions expressed in our shoppers’ reviews. We often use reviews in creating new designs or improving and correcting old designs.
You make some good points about the pockets in this style. I will use this input in January when I am in Italy working on product design and development. There may be some small adjustments that are warranted.
I will say that we stopped making your Bosca product in Saddler leather in 1990. In the 20, 30, or whatever number of years you used this wallet the pockets have loosened a bit. Most wallets would never have lasted anywhere that long.
Regarding other points in your review I feel that I must comment in order that other shoppers can fairly judge for themselves.
• Your old product was made of Saddler leather. It was a good leather.
• Our Old Leather is also a good leather. In fact it is objectively as good a leather as you can buy anywhere at any price.
• Old Leather is European sourced raw material, tanned in Italy with a vegetable tanning process that uses organic tannins derived from chestnut and mimosa.
• It is then hand stained. This literally means sponging on the color by hand; a long process that requires skill and patience.
• 85-90% of the products on our site are made in hand-stained Italian vegetable-tanned leather.
• You purchased a product made in China.
o Every product is marked clearly in “features” with the country of origin. I understand that you may have missed this detail. Had you contacted us we would have happily exchanged your item for an Italian-made product or refunded your purchase price.
• More than 70% of the products on our site are manufactured in Italy.
• I spend about a third of the year living in Italy working on product development and managing our factory near Florence Italy, so I feel quite proud about our association with Italy. For the record, I feel quite proud of all our manufacturing partners.
You did not like your product and that is fair. We truly want you and all of our customers to be happy and satisfied. Our small Ohio-based customer service team takes their mission seriously. Though you have refused their offers of help and variously claim to have “given the wallet to your doorman” or “thrown it in the trash” we are refunding your purchase price. You seem to feel that you were fooled. Our intent is very much the opposite of that. We do our utmost to communicate in a clear and honest way with our customers and we will take your feedback into account as we do so.
